Blaze is now 5 months , one month till his first show , i know the right back leg is not in position but patience was wearing thin from both photographer and subject , subject had better things to be doing , like digging holes and catching bugs

i dont know what they should/shouldnt look like for showing but OH EM GEE he is adorable! i just want to cuddle him!

He looks lovely!

I wouldnt get overly hung up on foot placement, I believe BC's are shown free standing (correct me if im wrong!) so a foot out of place is definately NOT going to be penalised in a young pup. The most important thing is to make sure he has a fun, positive experience. If you can get him moving calmly and politely thats always a bonus as working dogs should (imo at least) be judged in a large part on their movement so showing that off to the best of your ability will give you an advantage over those who aren;'t so well behaved :D But, i always think of the first few shows as training and fun with the babies. You want them to enjoy it and want to do it again :)

Thanks , he loves having his show lead on more than his walking lead, [ knows there's sausage involved in the show lead] he moves very nicely for a baby , i like to move him free on a loose lead , some people free stand and some stack border collies , we always try to make show training short and fun .

Sounds like he is going to be just fine when he hits the ring then :D I use a bit of rabbit skin in the ring with the babies, just incase their attention wanders when it shouldn't. But if he is very food orientated you will probably be just fine with the sausage :)

Definately move him on a loose lead like you are doing, I just HATE to see these dogs strung up on the move - ruins the entire outline.

Whats your first show?

Just misses East of england by 1 day , so his first show is National pastoral and working breeds on the 14th july , the aim is to go and have some fun , any placements will be a bonus !
