Just wondering is this "normal". Horse is 5 (6 in July this year) and still has 2 baby teeth at the front. They are being pushed out by his "adult" teeth, but haven't dropped out yet. They don't seem to be causing him any problems/pain etc, so could it just be a waiting game? Have consulted the dentist obviously who said its probably just a late bloomer, and wait to see if they drop out. Has anyone else had this experience?? Just after some advice or reassurance if possible. x

if the caps dont drop off soon i would speak to your vet as food can get stuck under them and cause infection, your vet will happily come out and pull them off no sedation needed :)

Oh brilliant. The dentist was out last week and floated his teeth etc and had a good look at these and wasn't concerned. Will give him a bit and call the vet x

Some breeds are known for being late developers (in terms of teeth). My shireX still had 2 of her baby bottom teeth when she was 5, then as she came 6 the new ones appeared.

I wouldn't worry unless your dentist does, after all that's why you get a professional to look at them.
