55mm or 70mm size rings on bits?

Can anyone tell me what the difference is please, I think the 70mm is standard but my NS trial bit has just arrived and the bit rings are 70mm and look huge

The bit's too small anyway so I need to return it for the next size up but wondered if I should go for the 55mm rings instead of 70mm. Does the ring size change the way the bit functions?

No shouldn't make any difference to the way the bit functions. The only difference will be to your cheek pieces. You will have to drop a hole or 2 with smaller bit rings, so long as you have the adjustment then should be OK.

Just to add 55mm does sound quite small for bit rings - I would think that 70mm would be more 'normal'.

55mm is probably the bradoon ring size? 70mm sounds normal, thats what the NS I've got are.
