A question about the above as in elementary 44 - what bend is used where or do you stay on the same original inside bend all the time as it is leading to counter canter (although already doing counter canter in novice)? Help gratefully received.

Keep the bend slightly over the leading leg, just take care with the balance and that you don't fall onto/through the outside shoulder returning to track

As ihw says and make it a definite loop and not a sort of leg yield/fall back to the track. I've found it easier to ride if I really setup and ride the start of the loop out of the first corner.

Agree, make it a proper loop marker to marker. My instructor said to maintain a bit of inside bend, and that definitely helps keep it balanced (rather than changing the bend as you would in a walk or trot).

Yes, keep a bit of inside bend all the way or you might find yourself with a flying change or falling back to trot. So, second half of the loop is basically counter canter.

As this is early counter canter work the rider must show bend over the leading leg and the horse moving off the riders inside leg. At no time during the loop do you change the bend.
