I want to try my chap in a waterford with fulmer cheeks but will need it in a 6 1/2" looked on internet but can't seem to find them? Just wonder if they come up this big or if anyone knows where to get one? Cheers!

Bad news - most manufacturers won't bother with this size as its not worth making a mould for the numbers you would sell

So your only option is likely to be abbey saddlery as they will make you one specially (if not in stock). Prepare for a £80 bit though!

also just thought if you are not 100% sure it will work, try the bit borrowing forum post! Think its in competition forum!
That way can try and see if someone else has got one first?!

I have the same problem and recommend neule schule bits.

I have a 6 inch, but it was too small for my horse. You can have it if you want.

If you go with shop4 bits, be prepared to wait a very long time for delivery. I am still waiting nearly 4 weeks later.

Keep an eye on ebay for neule schule bits. They often come up in big sizes - I got all mine this way.

Just a thought though - they do say to get a bit 1/2" bigger than normal if it is a waterford so the mouthpiece can sit correctly and not rub the corners.

Thanks for that but it would need to be over 6" as he has a 6" snaffle that really is a bit small allowing for that extra 1/2" that you are supposed to have with a Waterford, as stated below. Just wanted the full cheeks to help with a bit of schooling/turning ability!
Thought of shop 4 bits but have seen the posts on here recently about their slow or non existent service of late. Oh well will keep looking, cheers chaps!

I use Neue Schule for my bits, they're one of the few I've found that do over 6". Other places that do bigger seem to be annoyingly random in what types they do - I couldn't find a 6 1/2 " loose ring lozenge for love or money anywhere else, which is why I tried Neue Schule.
