I posted 6 weeks ago when my JRT was having tests done for disc protrusion. She went from wobbly/ slight ataxia to complete paraplegic with only very slight pain reflex within 24 hours. We rushed her up to the animal hospital where she had an MRI to confirm the protrusions. She had three severe protrusions but they could not operate immediately due to the swelling on her spinal cord so she had the operation the following day. The operation was successful and they removed a lot of material away from her spinal cord. We were delighted that she was aloud home 72 hours later and she was beginning to try and stand which was a good indication of her gaining feeling in her legs again :-D and her tail was going like the clappers which was brilliant! I ordered a sling off ebay and used that to support her back end on walks and two weeks after surgery she was walking unaided! She just took it steady otherwise she would wobble over! We are now six weeks on and she is doing fantastic. Walking near normal again, placing her feet really well. If she tries to run its like watching bambi but she's getting there! She knows shes not aloud to go silly! I never want to experience this ever again, having to make that decision to put her through major spinal surgery,it was a no brainer to give her the chance but the thoughts of her not regaining her function after surgery kept going through my head. My mum kept looking up those wheels that dogs have when they are paraplegic! Thankfully that was not needed! :-D

She was referred for hydrotherapy but they felt it was not necessary due to how successful her rehabilitation has been so far, she has physio at home :-)
