7 month foal feeding

Inca 7 months
Eating Hay and Grass fine, drinking fine pooing, urinating.
Won’t touch hard feed at the moment. Have tried soaked grass nuts, soaked Fast fibre ( yard owners suggested) only a small quantity to see if he would eat.
I’ve got youngstock cubes and have soaked small amount but won’t touch them either.
Soaking to see if takes but not interested.
Have tried cold soak and warm soak not interested.
Feeding smaller amounts over the day as he’s dropped weight and hasn’t been eating much probably due to stress and not the right nutrition.

Vet coming out to check on him generally and will talk about feeding/health ext..

Need to get the weight back on him slowly.
Was trying to think of maybe getting a young stock mix with a different texture.. maybe a mix?

Any other suggestions?

Are nutritionist worth the hype?

Have you tried not soaking the Youngstock cubes?

Was bucket food not introduced alongside the dam?

Do the other youngsters eat out of a bucket?

Mine learnt in the past when i fed the mare he stole from it, they shared. He soon learnt what a bucket means.
Could you let him eat alongside another? Sprinkle hard feed on the grass/floor or in his hay so he gets the taste?

Is he recently weaned as you mentionned the stress? They soon pick back up once they forget about the milk.

Yes I’m going to try the sprinkle although the yard owner has said not to.. she says not to about a lot of the things I suggest.

I had one like this and I borrowed a long plastic sheep feed trough from my partner that they couldn't injure themselves on and poured the stud cubes in that and the shy one soon learnt to wiggle it's head in and get his share with the other two!.

Youngstock mix - nice, sugary, you can see all the things in it. Our weanlings turned up their noses at all the cubes we tried but totally adore the mix. We have to drive miles to get it, but totally worth it!

Mine same age is enjoying a sprinkle of thunderbrooks healthy herbal and d&h sure grow he loves the sure grow I also lightly spritz rather than soak x

Our youngest arrived nit knowing what a bucket feed was. My OH spent a lot of time hand feeding different thinks until he (pony) got the hang of it. A mix might be better to start with as it's sweet and more tempting.
