7 weeks, 4 days ... until the first shoot of the season!!!!!!!! :eek::eek::D:D


Yipee!!!! BUT that means i have 7 weeks left to finish off & pull together Jake's summer education and bring Kensa back up to speed!!

HEN - I'm sending Jake up to you in tonight's post - needs more work on his 'wait' and 'go left' .... he just loves to 'go right'!!!!!!

Sorry - over excited burst there but i just can't wait!!!! Winter IS the BEST time of the year!!! :D:D:D:D

So when do you all start your shoots?
 
October - not got the date yet, but I am BRICKING it! He's never picked up a bird! Where on earth do I get a bird to practice with! What if all he wants to do is play with the other dogs (quite likely actually)! What if he causes a riot! What if there's a gundog stampede, led by Henry!

LMFAO ok breeeeath lady!!!! It's really not that bad ... and so what if he plays, most of them do!!

You're going beating, yes? So he won't need to pick a thing! Plus, if you're heading out at the beginning of the season it's more than likely everyones dogs will be hyper and selectively 'deaf' so don't expect miracles from your lil lad!

First few shoots, enjoy YOURSELF and get to know how things are done, who's who, whats going on etc .... easily done with Henry on the end of the lead next to you :D
 
We're going to pick up (well, for the first few times we're going to follow my mate's OH and his 4 labs and watch THEM pick up:D) - he is a good wee retriever, so seems a shame to waste that (and I don't think he'll ever be steady enough not to cause chaos beating:p)

I am clinging to the fact that my mate was there during the gundog scurry experience, and she said he'd fit right in with all the others:D And their lab didn't bring the dummies back either (a sore point with mate's OH, who bewailed his choice of dog, and is now planning his assault for next year I believe:D)

Dad went grouse shooting last year and said it was fantastic! Defo something i want to do soon :D

Oh you're going to be mingling with the upper class *ahem* the same as me!! :rolleyes::D much much better!

I'm sure you will be fine - there is only one rule for us pickers on our shoot - don't let your dog run around the guns during the drive, as it's dangerous! other than that - it's game on!!!!! :D
 
I want Hamish. Do you think he'd post him to me if I sent him an SAE?:D

Apparently it is all highly relaxed where we are going - good-oh!:D
 
I've no idea the date of our first shoot, but I am looking forward to it :) And I bet Pops would be too, if she knew! :D

My new pup is one week old today, and I have already spoken with her Daddy's owner about doing some training and lessons with him and her in the future!! :D
 
Me and Dory are meant to be picking up this season too! :eek: Trainings kind of slipped of late for obvious reasons! Errrrr, ok I will make time to start our daily sessions again asap! Worried I havnt found a decent training ground at the new house yet, there is a field behind it minus any livestock so perhaps I will have to find out who that belongs too!
 
SU - Arrested?! Oh dear! Silly, he'll need to be careful or he'sll have his guns/licence taken off him!

Puppy - I know, Kensa has no idea - i think she will pop when she see's OH & I in our tweeds!!!!!!!

I know - but to be honest its been a while coming as he is very volatile/aggressive and most people keep out of the way - this time however he punched some one walking on the public bridleway - no where near the pens - and it was completley unprovoked. He always goes a bit mental near the start of the season but threatening to shoot the dogs and then the owner is all a bit out of proportion.:rolleyes::rolleyes::o

we will see if he manages to keep a lid on it - in the meantime everyone now has to walk their dogs on a lead anywhere on the estate (no livestock) in case he decides to shoot a dog/person.:(

Gordon Bennett, sounds like taking his gun licence away might actually be quite a good idea!:eek:

Otto pulls to the right too actually, need to send him to a left-handed dog trainer :D
Actually, he has had absolutely sod all education this year, so I hold no hope for taking him out this year. In fact I can't remeber the last time I took my whistle out on a walk :o :D

Maybe my Mummy won't be recovered enough to go out for the first few shoots and I can steal Roo, if she were to trip going down the stairs she certainly wouldn't be up to it, and you know 90% of all accidents happen in the home.. ;) :D :D

(Don't worry Mummy, I promise not to push you down the stairs :p)
 
Left? Right? Amateurs! Henry's 'falling over the dummy' retrieve technique is coming on a treat, that's what you need:p:D

Bloody hell!! I'd say without a doubt he'll have his guns/Licence taken off him! I know of people having them taken away for a lot less than actually threatening to use them!!! ....seriously it's no wonder the sport gets bad press is it?!

LOL i wish Bramble was still alive - she used to literally trash through cover crop like a bulldozer leaving a track behind her!!! I liked beating with her, meant i wasn't constantly tripping over kale stumps, i could just follow her lead LOL oh i do miss Bramble-Bear :(

LOL! For Pops it's when we turn up the drive at my Grannie's, and from that point you can guarantee she will be too excited to eat or sleep for the next 24 hours :rolleyes:
