...'til the first shoot of the season! Yippeeeeeeee :D

So excited! Have been since the game fair! Poor credit card took a battering!! New breeks, shirts, socks (yet more!), dog coats, leads, bowls etc etc!!

All dogs doing well with training! Maisey likes to try her luck every now and then but is getting better

Can't wait!! Anyone coming to Cornwall this season to join us? If so, let me know and i will PM you a list of shoot dates :D:D

Or 49 more sleeps :D

Am very excited, binned the gamekeeper in May so won't be invited back on that shoot :p:(

Am going to do a couple of days a month with the 1st one I started beating for 4 years ago. Can't wait to see all the old boys and catch up on the fruity talk in the beaters wagon :D (Hope all the old faces are still there - they are all kicking on a bit now) :(

The boys are being great but must do more work on stop whistle - is hard with them egging each other on. All training will i'm sure go out the window when faced with such a volume of birds in the cover "OMG squeal, quick lets get them all! now!" cue 50 birds getting up all at once and shouts in the distance of "get those ****ing dogs back!"

Me and Flora want a day in cornwall this season! Although I have just taken on an extra shoot so will be busy. I too am majorly excited for the season ahead, I'm really missing it now! Floras training been out window for last few weeks though so glad I have a few weeks left yet!

Argghhhh - we start on the 1st so next week I have to get ready to do all the wages - where has the time gone?

Anyone want to help me write a hundred million wage packets - LOL!

Unfortunately this season I will have to take a back seat with the picking up :( Toby is too stiff for another season so that just leaves me with Flyn and I simply haven't got the time to bring on a new one. I have been offered the loan of another spaniel for the season though. We'll see how it goes.

Anyone is very welcome to join me for a day too - particularly you SA as I owe you a day ;)

Glad your dogs are going well in training - mine aren't! Well, to be honest, my daughter's Goldie is just PERFECT (of course, being a Goldie!) and her year old Springador is coming along so well that she's about to move into the advanced class!!!!! But my Large Munsterlander........oh dear:(! Husband has been invited to a shoot in October and Bryn, my Munsterlander, has specifically been invited to pick up:). Problem is, he broke a hind leg really badly at the beginning of April (cost me north of £3k at Cambridge Vet School Hospital and he wasn't insured.......) whilst playing ball with my daughter's boyfriend - jumped up to catch the ball and landed awkwardly. Now, Bryn is potentilly a really good gun dog and, as my old gun dog trainer told me (now sadly no longer with us - RIP Stan Close) "That's a bloody good dog you've got there, he's got a bloody good nose - pity about the handler!" (ie, me!:o). I'm just not assertive enough and, since his lay off, he's become a total hooligan! Even my daughter, who the aforementioned late dog trainer said of her "Now that young lass has the makings of a good instructor!" is having problems with him - he's just SO enthusiastic about retrieving that his "stay" command has completely disappeared:mad:! We've been trying lots of "steadiness" exercises with him but it's like banging your head against a brick wall! At least his leg has healed well.......!!!!!:D

Ravenwood - I will be up this year. Let me have a list of dates and i will figure out when's best :)

Ahhhh ... bet you can't wait for all my shooting pics again (yawn) haha :p:D

It'll be a little bit longer than 7 weeks for us as the birds won't be ready really til end of Oct/ beginning of Nov:(.
I would really love to come to Cornwall or Exmoor this season (I was at Tarr Steps again RW the week before last and thought of you!). However I will be far too busy this year as my new baby is arriving on Oct 7th!:D:D
Yes Purdey has a little sister!!:D She was born on Aug 11th - the only girl in a litter of 6. We are just a little bit excited:D
