It was a joke. My supposedly white glossed skirting boards are frankly black with dust/dog dirt. I so don’t care. I gave up trying to get the wall on the way out of the house clean today, 3 dogs squidging past means all door jambs and walls are filthy.?‍♀️ Clodagh is never nasty. It was a joke.

I hope you are OK. I have never known Clodagh be rude before so suspect it wasn't meant with ill intent. That said, it was a strange response to what was presumably a sweet photo of a puppy and if you have had abusive comments in the past I can see how upsetting it would be.

I would have liked to see puppy pictures and would not have noticed the skirting board!

For those that didn't see the original post, the OP themselves mentioned the skirting board in what could be read as a jokey way. So Clodagh seemed to me to be responding to that, rather than coming in cold from observing the pictures.

It looks like, instead, the OP was being genuinely defensive about the skirting board because she genuinely felt bad about them. So Clodagh, although joking, has hit a nerve! Ooops. A misunderstanding.

OP - Clodagh is not a poster who would be deliberately nasty. The way the boards were written about in the OP could have been read as an invitation to a bit of light-hearted teasing. Obviously not your intention but the written word is tricky. I think the point of Clodagh's joke was "don't worry about you skirting boards you silly goose, look at your cute puppy"... which isn't how you read it. Again, written word is tricky.

Don't go. We all like puppy pictures.

PS. You should see the state of my skirting boards.
PPD. Judicious use of the crop tool on photos will hide many 'sins' ?

That makes total sense, Clodagh has never been mean to my observation.

BTW, we have gone with wooden, stained (as in purposefully) skirting boards. Doesn't show the muck!

A friend once said in conversation, "I must do my skirting boards, I haven't done them this month!" and I was ? as I genuinely couldn't remember doing mine and we had lived here for years at the time!

I didn't see the original post but if OP mentioned it then Clodagh's response makes perfect sense. I always notice things like dirty/chewed skirting boards after I have taken photos of dogs in front of them, but am past caring ;) I really want to see the cute puppy.
