well to cut a long story short i have a youngster who was quite happy to wear a rug, as it was summer when i first introduced a rug (fly sheets, summer sheet and a fleece) he was quite happy for me to put it on, however he had a barbed wire injury and was on box rest for 12 weeks so i stopped with his rugs as it would of interfered with his cut, anyway when winter come he was all healed up and i got a waterproof sheet to put on him in the heavy rain we had, he freaked when i got the rug out and it took me 3 weeks to get him to wear it,
anyway he finnaly wore it, the first day he wore it out in the fields the 2 front straps bust open (the rug fitted perfectly fine and it was brand new)and as he was galloping around the rug went round his back legs and the rug was chasing him in his mind, since this day it has took me 9 months to get him to wear an outdoor rug, we started with a fleece and worked our way up, but it has been so much hard work and paitence, we took steps forward and a million back. i didnt think i would ever get to this and now we have im the happiest person alive
anyway this pic is today, i seem to of lost all the pics of our progress, the rug is a bit big as its a friends rug ive borrowed, we started from scratch again with a tea towel, the bath towel with carry bags to asociate the rustling like a rug would, then we put an exercise sheet on him, the a stable fleece without the velcro at the front, then a stable fleece with a velcro, then a heavy stable rug so it has weight in it for him to get used to, the a fly sheet so it would rustle a lil bit like an outdoor rug would and the finally today we put an outdoor rain mac on him, hopefully next he would have an heavy out door rug on
as you can see hes not happy with the rug on but he let me put it on with lilttle hessitation, he will soon be comfy with it
