I have just seen this ad!!

Peanut is a reg. welsh a could make a B if he keeps growing like he is peanut is 8 months old i think without looking at his passport he is a very friendly little chap and moves nicely he is chesnut with a blaze and 4 white socks so very flashy ideal show pony or kiddys pony ... call or txt for info

Have I read this right?!

Crikey, would not have believed it!! So very different in type. Welsh A, small, fairly dished face, real pony looking, and B's tend to be like a small tb pony!!

I aim to educate

I did have to go and double check though

some more old fashioned Bs are actually much stockier and more like the As from what I have seen, much less spindly!

From the WPCS website

The general description of ponies in Section A of the Stud Book is applicable to those in Section B, but more particularly the Section B pony shall be described as a riding pony, with quality, riding action, adequate bone and substance, hardiness and constitution and with pony character.

so basically they should be very similar with only height as the main difference.

Oh please - it just shows how much you don't know!

pricklyflower, i think that wouldn't be the case as A and B's are pony and pony type and C's and D's are cobs and cob types so a C would be too chunky to be classed as a B.

i am prepared to be corrected though

Thanks LR! I'm glad I found this post as it made me get her passport out and do some digging and I've just found a photo of her father, who looks very similar to her.

I'm amazed at the differences (looks wise) between the different sections!

Pricklyflower - The setions only have upper height limits, so even tho your C is only 128cms he is still a C.
As already said you can (and have to) 'upgrade' a section but you can't go down a section just b'cos the pony doesnt make the height.

I'm not sure about other sections but I know that a D can be re-registered as a C if under 13.2hh but they have to have a life height certificate
