Am moving horse to DIY after many many years of part livery so getting organised on having to stock my own bedding again. Horse eats straw which is a shame as it is very cheap at new yard but am going to have go down paper/shavings/wood option instead. Any pros or cons on Ecobed, Ecobale, Bliss etc? etc? Horse is not particularly messy but needs good absorbent bed to help keep feet in order and a nice easy bedding to manage. Thanks.

I use Bedmax shavings with Megazorg underneath where my mare pees. I like a good deep bed to the door, and it stays dry and doesn't move around. I use 3 bales of Bedmax and half a bag of Megazorb a week.

we use verdo wood pellets - nice and absorbent, soft and very very easy to do. I take out less than a barrow load per day from our two stables (in total, not each!). And thomas is a pig in disguise and can turn a clean bed into a swamp on most bedding, except this!

a ton pallet lasts me about 15 months generally.
