I didn't think I'd do this so soon, if at all!
I rode to my house
It;s roughly 4miles from the yard (the route I ended up taking, anyway), which isn't too bad, but it's the things that we encounter which make it tricky.
He let me on quite nicely today, I didn't have YO to help me, so I had to do it alone. I thought I'd be there all morning, but after a failed first attempt, he let me on
We were off!
I wanted to go the shorter route home, but there was a problem. Giant (I'd say 8ft tall) inflatable Santa and Snowman! We had actually passed them with the group no problem on sunday, but they were fully inflated then. Today they were half down and flapping like crazy!
Ned was NOT happy and he turned for home. I could not stop him!! He was going at a steady trot, but there was no way I could fight him. After 20 yards or so, he finally listened to me, but traffic was building so I didn't want a fight, one or both of us would get hurt.
I decided to go a different route. We did lots and lots of trotting, he was such a good boy!
We had some canters where we could.
When I got to the end of the track...I could go right and go back to the yard, or left and brave going to my house. I chose left.
Just after the track is the A422, which can get quite busy, but thankfully I don't have to be on it long. Apparently, Ned logic is this - Lorries will not harm me, but bollards certainly will!!
Even with our little moment with the bollard, he was nice and calm. We turned up another lane and we were clear of the road!
When I was in the next field, I called Mum and said "Hey, start walking up to the bridge" she seemed baffled, but did as I asked. We saw a cement block which he wasn't fond of, but went past without much of a fuss!
Next was the bridge, which is what I'd feared the most. I tried to suck it up as much as possible and we walked across. He didn't even care!! What a good horse
We met Mum and he seemed really pleased to see her!
Had a lovely walk around the village
All was well and he left for the yard. On the way home, after the big road, we went back up the track and...we had a gallop!!! He was so good, not strong or silly at all and pulled up when I asked
I'm SOOSOOSSOSOSOSOOOSOSOOSSO proud of him!!
Then galloping back to his friends, to tell them about his adventures today
