Hello everybody!

On others threads, I introduced you Bellinda, my 23 years old mare. She might be in very good shape, she is getting old anyway, and the question of her successor had crossed my mind before.

Before I had to realy take care of it, this successor came on his own.

And here is... Sherpa de Kerven
I've known him since he was a week old, and now he is 6. I took care of him for all this time, I broke him in, I watched him grow... and last week, he was given to me as a birthday present.

Sherpa is a cob normand, a french heavy horse. Maybe you don't know french heavy horses very well so let me show you the 9 official breeds (there are others regional breeds)

Cob Normand:

Of course, the "Cob Normand" is the best! :p

In fact he is... fat! :D
But one day, when he'll have muscles instead, I'm sure he'll become rally gorgeous for sure!

Hello!

I haven't been there for a while, but Sherpa has improved a lot during this time, so I wanted to give news from him.

I brought him for a month in a yard with a sand school (ok I need to check the thread where I asked vocabulary question, because I'm still confused and I forgot how to tell it properly). I don't have good pictures of him working, but you'll see that he improved (he may be 6 years old, but he isn't much more advanced in his work than a 3 years od to be honest)

That was before going to school:

He was really fat.

And this was at school with his pony friend, Sylphe:

I was so funny to see them together! Sylphe looked tiny compare to Sherpa.
"You realise that he is one of my tall ponies?" said my instructor! :D

And here is Sherpa at work

He still needs to learn a lot of things of course, but I'm proud of him.

The pictures are really bad, I know! :D

And this is a video of his first public présentation for the "horse day". Long reins are his speciallity. He was supposed to become a carriage horse after all.

Now he is back home and I'm trying to make him become a nice hacking horse (or hack horse? How would you say it? ). Our biggest problem is that he is "cowphobic". But we're working on it.

He is fabulous and looks very kind,as well as handsome. So nice to hear your happy update! I hope you both continue to enjoy each other.:) And your earlier post, with the photos of French draught breeds was very interesting-I didn't know there were so many.:)

He is lovely and I was also interested to see the different French breeds as I had never heard of a 'Cob Normand' before. I rather like the Auxois :-)

Wow he has lost weight!

He's beautiful!
