I would like to say a big, big thank you to the ambulance service and two ramblers for going out of their way to help us yesterday.
We were out riding in a big field when my gelding threw a big wobbly and chucked off his sharer. She was hurt and couldn't get up. Neither of us had a phone (stupid and won't happen again). Two ramblers came to the rescue, organised the ambulance and found an open gate etc... They were fab!
She was taken care of fantastically and loaded into the ambulance.
I Was then faced with taken the two neds back (the naughty one and my youngster) not an easy prospect in a built up area with fast roads. And then one of the paramedics said he used to ride and could help me take them back if I'd take him back to his car after! I thought I hadn't heard properly at first but all three paramedics agreed they couldn't let me go on my own and with no phone and no one to call it seemed the safest option. So, he was kitted out with a hat and cloves, jumped on the horse (the naughty one) and rode him home! How fab is that? The man is my hero!
