For all the people who take time to share their expertise and experience,THANK YOU! Having got back into riding after a very long break I was lucky enough to find someone willing to let me ride her horse in return for mucking out etc. She then went on an holiday for three weeks entrusting me with her lovely mare. Trouble is by then I was completely hooked! Fast forward 6 months and I'm browsing through 'preloved' and there he was! Too big, 16'1 too young, 7 and as it turned out sarcoids. But some one as willing to share with me (that didn't work out but that's another story) so Mr Darcy was mine! The sarcoids turned nasty so had to go down the Liverpool cream route but it worked. We've had some ups and downs, confidence issues, mostly mine! but two years down the line we're making steady progress. So I wanted to say thankyou because all this time I have been reading everyones posts and learning a lot. My advice to any body out there just starting out again that I got from this forum is LESSONS and PATIENCE.

Welcome to the world of horses! It doesn't get any easier I'm afraid. Most of us work full time, have multiple horses that we care for ourselves with little or no help, little spare money, cars on their last legs, holes in your shoes while your horses get everything they need, winters are hard and summer brings its own issues for some four legged friends. However would we have it any differently, no and I've been doing this for a nearly fourty years! Enjoy, yes it is hard work but incredibly rewarding and good for you, mentally!
