Went to a BD comp on sunday and came home feeling a bit sad. It was so windy and Gin hates wind but she was an absoloute star and did 2 fantastic tests. Did the prelim and got 1 error but apart from that it was a really good test. Ended up with 63% and 3rd out of 5 but I thought we would have done better.
Then did the novice and yet again Gin was a star, at one point I thought we were going to be blown out of the arena. We only got 59% and was 5th out of 6.

I felt so disappointed as Gin is usually really tense and spooky but she was fantastic and did 2 super tests. So we came home with no rosettes as they were only giving them to 2nd place which also annoyed me. They said it was because they couldnt aford them. Where does my £15 entry fee go then?

This is the same place that I posted about a week ago where they told me Id come 4th but I was 3rd so I didnt get a rosette. (they were giving them to 3rd then)

I dont think we will be going there again.

you will find some places are like that. There are two places near me i wont compete at as the marking is so low, and i know a few other people that wont compete at these places either. It just makes you feel so rubbish, especially when you've done a really good test.

The way i look at it is that i know ive done a good test, and i feel that my horse went as well for me as possible therefore im happy, whatever the outcome.

Avoid going there in the future i say, and dont get dispondant about it.

xx

I really feel for Gin as she was fab, yes I know she has no idea that she got low scores

Don't worry some places can just be strange like that. I took Loops out a couple of months ago to College Farm and did two tests. First one he didn't put a foot wrong and did a lovely test and I ended up with 58%! The second test (different judge) I did Louis was tense and tired and it was quite rubbish and we can out with 65% and a placing! I'm certainly not going there again. Just congratulate your horse for behaving and don't let it get you down.

why dissapointed? you know that you did well and if you were pleased with your horses then please don't beat yourself up!! YOu deserve a humungous pat on the back for even competing at that level. I have done 2 unaff dressage tests in my whole life and they were the most god-awful stressful things that I have ever taken part in hence now sticking to SJ!!!!! Good on you - chin up - your time will come and you'll have an armful of rosettes!!!! You have a really good attitude in that you can recognise when you did a good performance so focus on that - not the opinion of one judge!!!

Where were you competing Nat?
It's such a bummer when you think that you've done well but then you get placed down the line - but don't get disheartened - you've been doing really well
