Hemir schools very well in the straight bar snaffle that i have, but i have no brakes until the end of the ride, after a few canters (and thats only because he's tired

) I was riding him in a pelham and don't mind putting him back in that, but our mare is using that at the moment! He doesn't go well in a jointed bit (have tried about 10 different jointed bits, either suggested on here or by my RI!) and the only bit he's actually confortable in is the snaffle, but out hacking i need something else....I'm just not sure what to try!

Can anyone suggest something, or should i just stick to getting him another pelham to hack out in? I'm not heavy with my hands, he doesn't have any problem with the pelham and behaves well in it (I don't put the curb chain on)

thanks
