A bit ironic really....

I measured Axel yesterday and he is 16.2hh.
When I bought him as a yearling he was advertised as making 15.2 - 15.3, I'm only 5ft 3 so I thought he would be ideal height.
His breeder was only selling him because he didn't think he would be big enough for him.....

Anyone elses horse grown bigger than they thought, or not big enough?

My horse's vac card had him at 16.2 as a 3 year old, I think he is not far of 17 h now, but he has not been measured since then.

A friend bought her mare because the mare had been running with a stallion and the breeders thought she was the only mare not in foal. As it turned out, she was the only mare who was in foal and my friend had 2 for the price of 1!

My chap can measure 15.2hh when he's dozing on the yard, to 16hh when he's waiting for his dinner to appear! He was advertised at 15.3hh, so I guess it was about right.

My horse was advertised at 15.2hh, is passported at 15.2hh, various people are convinced she's anything from 16hh to 16.3hh, and she measures bang on 15.3hh without shoes. Any which way, she is a BIG lady being a middleweight, and currently OVER weight

I am positive that my horse has grown at least another inch since the spring grass came through. I am sure she wasn't this big over the winter. When I first went to see her she was "only" 16.2hh, Cazza measured her again recently at 16.3hh and i am SURE she has grown again. Maybe she just has fat withers.

Then of course there is the way she grows an extra hand or two when faced with the Horse-Eating Grass Stalks of Death while out hacking....

... and to think that you sold Rocky as he was bigger than you'd hoped ....

My TB was supposed to be 15.3 but after everyone saying he was bigger I measured him and he is about 16.1 and I am only 5' 3" .... but I don't like riding him anyway

I was adament I didnt want anything over about 16hh. Mine is now at about 16.2hh, but should have known as he was just over 16hh as a 3 yr old, but has changed shape completely now so looks a big boy

But wouldnt have him any different!!

and the really annoying thing is that Rocky when I sold him measured at 16.3 and 1/2, so actually only 1 1/2 inches bigger than Axel is now

Although Rocky did grow to over 17 hands eventually!
