Seeing as today is my HHO anniversary, I thought Id do a little update. Cant believe it was 2004 that I joined.
Anyway, not good news on the murph front. He has been off since september and he is still lame. Not as lame as he was, but still lame. He has side bone & ringbone in his near fore. Hes only 13, so not that old at all.
Farrier and Vet has suggested getting wide web shoes etc, so we'll see what happens. Other girl at the yard, (there is only 3 of us) her horse has also gone down with the same thing.
Think we will go and maybe get a second opinion and then see how it goes, after that as to what route we will go down. Typical horses, one minute your winning all round you, jumping brilliantly, then next your down in the dumps with no horsey.
In the meantime I have taken on Jumanji, a 15.2hh chestnut mare that is my Yo's (whos still in hospital, so Im still running the place) she was out in the field doing nothing for a few months.
Shes totally different to murph, whos a big long horse, shes short, with no neck, and I feel HUGE on her. This is what she looked like last October

And this is her last month

She is the oddest looking horse, but I have to say she is very good, and loves her jumps.

Theres a funny vid of us jumping, and me getting it wrong at the last jump!! Im trying to slowly build up the height of the jumps, but the no neck is putting me off. One good thing, is that shes great for cantering a round of jumps, which is my big problem, I tend to panic and over-ride, but with her, Im starting to be able to sit there and let the jumps come to me, easier said than done, and I still have the odd panic moment, but Im getting there!
Im decided that Im going to jump her this season in the RC shows. Kinda regretting saying that Id do that, but oh well. First show is the 15th of April I think, and its indoors, so I have alot of work to do in the meantime.
So thats all the news with me, anyway, fingers crossed this bloody rain stops soon, the state of the fields, and the yard, mud everywhere, I cant wait for the summer!
