We are moving house. I want to live near the horses so have been looking at yards before houses. I have been to a couple which are nice (both supplied by lovely HHOers :) ) one has space at the moment, one doesn't but I'm on the list.

Fine you would think. No. Now OH has decided he want to live on the other side of town where I can locate absolutely no yards that do DIY. So now I am here offering to drive round and leave notes on gates/knock on doors.

Given that I find moving stressful as it is I was really hoping he'd cut me a break on this one!

Anywho, feeling very sorry for myself and just wanted to vent. On the plus side I seem to have had a pay rise today so not all bad I s'pose. I can spend it all on the extra petrol I'll be using to drive to work

Hugs x

(but why is it his decision about where to live - both of you will be living there...)

It isn't really. And he'll live wherever, he's pretty mellow like that. He's just seen a house he likes on the other side of town. I've said I'll do my best. I feel bad because he's done a lot to accommodate me over the years and I want to make his life a bit easier. But equally I don't want him to heap pressure on me to keep ringing people and chasing about as I hate change and am liable to have a melt down! Mental? Me? I just feel all stressed out. Bah.

How is your house sale going? Survey done yet?

Bite him and drain his blood.

Next time he'll think twice before dictating here you live.

NB I don't think for one second you'd allow him to dictate anything, so just take that with a pinch of salt :p

No, I wouldn't. And he wouldn't try I don't think. I just thought I had it all sorted and now I have had doubt cast on it all again! git!

bite someone else then? Just to make you feel better?

Or use them as a human punchbag if you don't fancy the metallic taste and risk of infection...

Sweet Jesus!

Find somewhere equidistant from best yard you can afford and his and your work. Piece of cake.

HA! You'd think that wouldn't you only our jobs are 60 miles apart and the move is to take us roughly towards the middle of that. So I'm looking at a pretty decent commute to work every day (40 mins or so) so really want to have the horses reasonably close by. My life is somewhat hectic.

Ladies: do NOT marry a man who's job moves around a lot if you can only work in one or two places in the country. You will both end up covering some real miles! That is my thought for the day :D

But you're moving because of his job, right? I'd suggest you carry on looking in the area you need to be near the horses. If he's not fussed anyway - there'll be another house he likes on the right side of town.

Survey happened yesterday, should hear next week. Fingers still tightly crossed!

Will cross mine too!

Yeah, you're right. I just want to let him have something suit him for once as he's whole life since I came along has revolved around my horses :o And it was me that encouraged him to move job if he wanted to/said we'd move house. He even said at the time I would wig out if we had to move. lol Silly me! For someone who doesn't like change I certainly manage to orchestrate a lot of it :D

I'm sure we'll find something on the right side of town. Houses aren't exactly that hard to come by are they?!

Try explaining that while your happy driving to the yard, it is that time muliplied by 2 that you don't have to spend in bed with him....
Bingo house next to the yard.

just leave an ad lying about for a 1 bed flat on his side of town;) or tell him to get a better job so that you don't have to work and then it won't matter how long it take you to get to horses as you'll have all day:D

sorry CT I'm watching repeats of Buffy the Vampire Slayer :o

Is Spike in them? *slavers* I so would bite him!

We moved for the OH's work while I was still dithering about mine. I then ended up in a school that I love and the yard is about 2 minutes walk. Bit of a git when I'm on holiday and have to see work every day still, but stunningly handy in term time. :D

LOL, why can I never think of useful comments like this to help my case in an argument?????

Also, Jess you know you said "seem to have had a payrise"? I am too much of a cynic but I just get worried when people seem to have more money in April, sometimes it means that their tax code has been set up wrong..... not that I mean to be the voice of doom (I count beans for a living), it just might be worth a quick check (it might even be right and you are due a repayment or something good :) )

How are BH and Nitty now? I am back from my holiday and wondering if you are still giving Nitty away ;)

I love Buffy ,jesstickle it is hard I am assuming your OH is not horsey I know what it's like always feeling a little bit guilty about the cost the time it takes etc etc and the better they are about it the worse you feel.
But where you live is a big thing make sure it's right for you too.

The tax codes changed this month so you now earn about £8k before tax so all standard rate taxpayers have had a little rise. Don't get too excited though it is a "little" rise.

JessTickle i seem to remember you are around Cambridge way if your looking towards Newmarket side of Cambridge i know of one if that's any help not advertised

but i know your pain the reason being the University own everything apparently to OXford :/

Which area of town is he looking at? PM me if you'd prefer, but I'll see if I can get my thinking cap on about any other yards that might do DIY :)

re payrise

my gross salary for the month has gone up so it isn't a tax code thing or a basic tax rate thing.

It was a tongue in cheek comment as my company are rubbish and never tell me what they're doing so it just appears in my pay cheque and I don't know if I'm allowed to talk about it or not! I got 2k at Christmas in my payslip that no one had told me about and nearly asked the office about it but then ten minutes later I got told not everyone had got one and that I should keep it to myself. They're just a bit topsy turvy bless 'em. I will double check on Monday but knowing their past form, and the fact it's my gross pay that has changed as well as my net I imagine it is deliberate.

I am also paranoid about it so don't worry people. You aren't being the voices of doom and gloom!
