Just been out hanging the washing out and could see the horses out in the field. Suddenly realised that Barney (gelding) had mounted my new little mare. Now I have come across them trying to mount and getting nowhere, but this was a lot more than that! Shall we say real connection seemed to be made and it went on for quite a while

Has anyone else come across geldings actually managing to go the whole way? Do you think Barney could be a rig or something? Aaagh!!

Bailey used to mount and do the deed.

I had him blood tested and he wasn't a rig. He certainly liked "his mares" though and got very protective of the one he had most fanciable thoughts for in a day.

My smaller Welsh cob has been caught doing the act several times - it was first noticed when my 12 yo daughter had a friend and friend's mare to stay. The girls didn't think anything of just turning both animals out together and then came screaming into the house "What's Charlie doing to Flicka!" Cue talk on birds and bees . . . .

Yup I have seen the little ponies....urmmm enjoying themselves in the field next to the manege, its a bit distracting when your riding round - haha.
