Some of you will remember me talking about my 4yr old called Socks!
Well Socks has been loaned to someone for the winter to go hunting, we didn't have the space here, and they wanted a nice young horse to take hunting!
Well they've had him about 2 months now, and while the guy who is hunting him has got the hang of him, (it took him a few days, having never really ridden young horses before) he is getting on well with him now, and enjoying his days, jumping rails and hedges etc...
But i've just come off the phone to the woman who owns the yard, and is looking after Socks, who has pretty much given me a telling off.
Firstly for the way he is schooled, ie he charges into his fences!
Well he had most the summer off on holiday, and only really started doing that when he came back in.. when i'm riding young horses, i don't like to be always telling them what to do, but to let them make their own mistakes, that way they learn for themselfs.. so yes he can tank off into his fences, but he's only 4, i'm not to bothered by that at the mo.
She also tryed to tell me that he's all wrong in his back, and that the man we sent up to do his teath is useless (who happens to be my uncle) he's done our horses teath for along time, and is used/recomended by everyone else i know round here too!
So i came off the phone feeling like i have a badly schooled, bad mouthed unsound horse! and how i really should know better!!
