I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to where to go with bitting my boy.
He is full bred arab, and so has a high head carage, and so has quite a strong muscle under his neck. To jump and in fast work he gets reasonably strong, so I put him in a hanging cheek snaffle, which really helped ot keep his head down (he is ridden in a running martingale) but he then tends to hang onto the bit and charge

. He does open his mouth, so is also ridden in a flash, but poss change to a grackle.
So swapped him into a loose ring which helped with the hanging on, but his head is now getting high again, esp. when we are jumping

So is there anything that anyone can suggest that may help?
Thankies

if the hanging cheek concept worked to get his head down, why not try a waterford mouthpiece which he won't be able to hang on to?

Grackle will be good if he opens his mouth and crossed his jaw, otherwise stick to a flash but makes sure it's fitted effectively!

For xc i ride in a tom thumb which gives me extra brakes when i need them but i also find it adds poll pressure so will make your horse want to lower her head.
Jumping mine in a snaffle i do find he will run at the fences if i let him and this bit has really made life alot easier for both of us!
