this will probably appear trivial to most but this weekend Jack and I went out for a hack on our own for the first time. Every other time I have attempted to hack out on our own has ended with him reversing into one of the ditches on the road out on two legs then refusing to move any further.
So I'd agreed to take out a hack for the riding school over the weekend when the people phoned and cancelled at the last minute. Since he was all tacked up and ready to go I decided I would ride anyway - didn't particularly want to ride in the school again so thought I'd see if he'd walk to the end of the road and back. He didn't nap once so I thought I'd just keep going and see if he'd go out the road end which he did without any fuss, so thought I'd see if he'd trot up the hill to the woods - which again he did with no fuss. Into the woods we went and had a wee trot and canter across the stream and back down into the yard all without any fuss or drama.
I was grinning like a cheshire cat by the time we got back. Someone has obviously stolen my horse and replaced it with his easy going dopelganger.
