Okie dokie, I want to take my Licious Beast out to do some hunting soon before I start jumping her at home again..Only I'm slightly worried about the antics she might pull involving standing up on her back legs.

So I've figured a calmer would (should!) take the edge off her and if not I'll just go home if she's being really awful and dangerous but its worth a try?

Soo I've never used calmers, does anyone know any decent ones that will take off the edge but leave her alert enough to go hunting ect and last all day? Or should I give her another at the end of each line?

Thanks

Before you try the 'calmers' - and, yes, the SoKalm paste is excellent - try giving your horse two scoops of Brewer's Yeast in his feed every day. I will bet that he is much calmer within a week or so, and you won't need anything else. Certainly it's had an amazing effect on my horse!

She only gets so excited doing things like gymkarnas and hunting, every day life she's excitable but in a fun way and I like it xD I'd rather just dope her up on the day -laughs- Plus I'd have to test it and might end up dieing as she rears when she gets excited.

Thanks though, if she was like insanely hyper all the time I'd try it but she's not too bad. Thanks very much

It's ages since I heard of anyone using brewers yeast - I do remember using it years ago and it certainly worked. We've all succumbed to the marketing p[itches of the big price brands!

I've asked the same question in the Hunting forum and So Kalm was recommended. Mine is the same as yours, only excited in certain situations so I wanted something just to give on the day too.

I've bought some but not sure when I'm going hunting yet - let us know what you use and how you get on

I had forgotten you (or someone else) had suggested this. I wouldnt mind giving it a go. Has to be cheaper than the £20 calmer he is on at a mo that lasts 2 weeks!

Thanks, I'm very excited as hadn't jumped her for an age (she's young and did a lot over the spring so felt she needed time off) and it was so much fun last time!

I'm hoping to go on the 18th November, 2nd December and of course Boxing Day, I'm booked the other weekends for house hunting haha (for a house with stables

)

Edited: Yeah it sounds ideal for horses who need calmer all the time but to be honest I love her fizziness the rest of the time, but when she gets really excited she just gets dangerous so I'd prefer just to use it when she gets really excited. xD Thanks

I get mine from my usual feed merchant. Gold Label make it, and I am sure your feed store could order it for you, if they don't keep it in stock.
