Well, after some reservations and with the full agreement of Kelly, I have decided it is time to come clean with you all
shocked.gif

As you may know, my horse Bo has been out of action for several weeks with a virus and a few other problems brought on by the hard ground. Well, I haven't been entirely idle while he is at home recovering
smirk.gif

Many of you will remember the story of Trike and the various complications he had. Well, when Kelly decided to sell him with a view to finding a home that could offer a gentler pace of life with the occasional show thrown in, I contacted her as he seemed to be an ideal partner for my wife and I. She had suffered a loss of confidence following a few unscheduled exits from Bo, and so needed a nice safe horse to get her going again.

Well, Trike has been with us for about 2 months now, and has done everything that could have been asked of him and more
smile.gif
We are lucky where we are in that he has loads of good hacking and a nice indoor school too. There is also no pressure on him to perform as he is very much the second horse, but perform he most certainly has lol!

About a week ago, we took him to his first show, and he performed above all expectations
grin.gif

Firstly, he jumped the 90cm Amateur Qualifier, and went clear. Then, with only 5 horses through to the jump-off, we went for a steady clear again, but unfortunately nudged a pole going into the double...rider error as I got him in too deep
shocked.gif
Anyway, we finished 4th and qualified for the second rounds
grin.gif

Then, we jumped the 1m Amateur Qualifier, and again went clear. This time only 4 horses made the jump-off, and so a steady clear was in order again. unfortunately, he ran out of gas a little at this stage though and had 2 'tired' poles down. Anyway, all was no lost as he finished 4th again and qualified for that class too
grin.gif

He's such a little superstar, and I have to thank Kelly immensely for allowing us the chance to bring him on
smile.gif
It's still early days, and there are some days when he is better than others, but he seems to be enjoying himself and that's the important thing.

Here's a few piccies of him in action :-

He looks like he is really enjoying himself, tucks up well in front, like the 4th picture the best as well.

BTW if 1m opens are taking it easy when will you be starting Foxs?

LOL!

One day at a time i'm afraid
smile.gif
He may never jump a fox, but equally he is more than capable of doing so. Only time will tell i'm afraid, and if he spends the rest of his time just hacking out then that's fine too

Delighted he has found a good home, and even though there is no pressure on him to perform, he seems to be more than OK in that department as well as being a confidence giving hack.
Best of luck with him.

Haven't got the schedule in front of me, but from memory there is a 90cm Am then a BN, both of which Trike can do, then there is a 1m Am and a 1m Open which I *might* take Bo along for. Their surface is sooo good there and their tracks so well built that it might be a good comeback for the fella after his extended rest
smile.gif
I want him to get his confidence back before we go higher again.

what class will you be doing? Am prob only doing the 80cm intro on a ticket as we are not registered yet, and we have not showjumped for about a year <img src="http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />

[/ QUOTE ]

Oooh BTW ! I think they're doing a limited number of 'free' tickets at Pyecombe at that show so you might want to get your entries in early
wink.gif
They also close entries early when the classes are full and will NOT accept any more after that cut-off - I know from experience
shocked.gif
So don't risk turning up on the day and expecting to enter...

That's the derby field.....harrowed and sanded. It's okay when dry, but I would think with a bit of rain on it, it would soon become a bog
crazy.gif
Still, it's better than rock hard clay for jumping on
