I too found your article very interesting. Would the situation improve if TB breeding was not confined to natural cover. How many TB's who don't make it on the race track would nevertheless be useful eventing sires?

A friend in Britain who had evented in her youth and whose daughter evented, always said that Thoroughbreds have the brains to get you out of trouble.

She purchased two TB eventers in Ireland, one was top dollar, the second almost a BOGOF. The expensive horse spent a great deal of time on box rest receiving expensive visits from the vet, whereas the BOGOF was a star.

I am pleased you did include Anglo Arabs in your article, although no sires. The Shagya Breed Society call Ramzes the sire of the century.

When I was searching for a Shagya stallion for my Cleveland mares no one in the UK had ever heard of the breed.

I did a double take the other day when I saw a young horse with dressage breeding being advertised as a future event horse. Sire is Wish upon a star (Gribaldi), Dam is Donnerhall lines!!
