A curious sheath squeaking sound?

What is that sucking sound when trotting, are they sucking in air to protect themselves or is that an old wives tale?
It's another comedy thread by me, but I do want to know.

I went to try out a gelding once with this problem! I never found out what it was but hadn't come across any with it since.

I'm intrigued now!

its created by air and dirt.. give your lads bits a good wash and it should stop.

i always understood it happens when a gelding is tense or stressed. mine does it on occasions and he is clean. and when he does it, it's times when i wud say he is not totally relaxed.

Yeah, he's my friends horse and think his nicknacks are clean! Maybe it is an anxiety thing, anyone else come across this?
