right so basically my loan person has let me down she no longer wishes to continue the loan and as the contract runs out at the end of August i have to find a new arrangement. however i dont really want to find another loanee as this year has caused me more stress than i care to think about.

my friend who has recently been keeping her horse with mine i was doing her a favour while she looked for her own grazing. she is going to be getting 2 acres soon and she has said she would be willing to look after hercules and ride him while i'm at uni if i pay for him. i am quite happy to do this but my question is how much should i offer.

i know my rough costs for keeping hercs excluding insurance come to around £20 a month as he stays out all year and is a very good doer. but i wondered if i should offer her something extra for the trouble of looking after him and if so how much bearing in mind she is gaining another horse which her and her daughter can ride and a companion for her horse.

also do you think this is fair on hercules i feel bad that i would be coming in and out of his life what do you all think?

I'm sure as long as he is well looked after, has company and work he'll be fine. I have no idea how you manage £20 a month tho, I spend more than that in a week! I would offer her a little more as a gesture of good will, it will be worth it for your piece of mind.
 
yeh i did think that. well we have our own land so dont have to rent or pay livery we get big round hay bales for £10 takes around a month to get through one of those. and he only get sugarbeet £2.90 a bag and chaff fiver a bag and barley £6 a month. as for feet he is barefoot and does quite a bit of road work so his feet only need trimmed every 6 months on farriers recommendation. so like i say a very good doer. i was thinking of offering around £35-£40 a month. and then pay extras for feet, teeth, vaccs extra
