A Drop Noseband???

Have just started using one on Red and we both love it. Have tried him in a flash but he hates his mouth being 'strapped' shut, with the drop you don't seem to have to have it as tight for it to have an effect on them thus making it more comfortable, in my opinion anyway. Recently he's started opening his mouth and leaning on my hands(in a cavesson nb) and the drop stops him opening his mouth to do so. They stop horses crossing the jaw and opening the mouth past a certain point. Yes they are sometimes used on strong horses.
Hope this helps, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong! :)

Awwww bless, i actually saw your pics earlier of your gorgeous boy :D
Thanks for that makes a lot more sense now, as i don't know whether a drop noseband would suit my lad. Will look into it more. x

A lot of horses seem to adore them and go SO MUCH better in them.
I wouldn't be able to say if they are stronger or kinder than flash nosebands - probably kinder because you can't make them so tight and you definitely can't strap their mouths shut; however you have to be careful you don't place them too low or you might restrict your horse's breathing!

I have two horses who are completely opposite in terms of contact - one is too light with a tendency to drop behind the bit, and fall behind the vertical; the other one has a tendency to go against the hand! Well BOTH of them have improved immeasurably with a drop. I call it the miracle noseband!

Wow, sounds brilliant :D I am really tempted to try one on my boy, but i think i will get someone to fit it for me as don't want it to affect his breathing. Thanks for your reply x
