Please can you post some pics of what i should expect my Boy to look like once his eye's swelling has reduced.
Also how long did it take for him/her to get used to it, we have had a few spooks in hand and only ridden once with a bit of spooking to begin with then he was fine.
Roughly how long did it take yours to be fully comfortable both ridden and inhand?
Thanks

I think it took a couple of months for the socket to heal up and the swelling to all go down. The vets were clever with the sewing so she has a dent in the socket that from a distance as she is grey looks like her eye. Also as she is a highland her big thick forelock hides the missing eye and so lots of people don't realize until they get close that it's missing. She has lost her right eye so we did lots of in hand work on the roads first then with another horse and found she was more confident with the other horse behind her like a wing man!! She still twists her head a lot to see so needs regular physio and we had a few mounting issues as she hated standing with her blind eye to the wall so we mount her from the other side now. She's coped really well and it's over a year and she's hacking out confidently and seems happy. I made a few mistakes to begin with and she banged her head or walked into things but she forgave me! Good luck and stay strong for your horse. I will find some pictures of her and PM them to you.
Hope this helps, let me know if you want any more info.

Thanks Ellijay - pics would be good. His eye is healing nicely and after 9 days the swelling is down and now starting to 'dent' in - i am hoping not too much!
we too have had some bangs - he has hit is face a few times and hurt himself - poor boy! And we have had a few collisions when i forget that he cant see that im there. He was great when i hacked him with some other horses, after 5 mins of being very scared and spooky he calmed down and walked out quietly and calmly. So i am hopeful that we can get back to business very soon.
