I'm going hunting (mounted) for the first time on Sunday! :D :D and have a few questions.
'Proper' hunting not Cubbing as it is the end of the season here ;)

Johds - are beige ones ok? The only others I have are 'OMO-white' and not very sticky.
With a black jacket and white shirt & stock.

Saddle pad - I don't have saddle shaped one so what is better black or white? (horse is dark brown). I was going to carry a normal crop (for reminding him of his manners), does it matter if it is dark blue?

Am I mad to think I'll survive in a snaffle? My other option is a double, but haven't ridden in it for a while...

Anything else? I should be thinking of/ have over looked?

Hi!

Beige should be fine - it certainly is here! Black or navy jacket is perfect, as is the white shirt and stock (please do your stock with the "double knot" rather than the single as preferred by the dressage lot! there's a sticky at the top of this forum if you're not sure)

I'd go for the black saddle pad if I were you. The crop will be fine, so long as it's not pink! ;)

You know your horse better than I do - what would you ride him in if you ride out with a bunch of people? go with that answer!

Is your hat a dark colour (usually to match your jacket)?
are your boots black? short boots and gaiters (not chaps) are acceptable here.
gloves if you wear them should be black or brown
I'm assuming you won't need a waistcoat under your jacket!

smile, have fun, enjoy it!

and let us know how you get on!

Thanks for the reply! I'll definetly let you know how it goes and try and get some pics.

I have black boots and smart black gaiters and have checked that they are ok, I don't think a waistcoat will be nessecary, even a proper wool jacket would be a bit cosy!

I'll give the double knot on the stock a ago, but as my usual attempts look like something the cat tied I don't hold out much hope!

Can't wait! :)
