and have a few questions for you lovely people...

1) On Flash's passport he is down as 14.1hh. He is now around 15hh. How do I get this updated?

2) Back to the height thing...I was hoping to affiliate the monster soon, so would need him to be measured for that. Is this done by the vet??

3) For insurance we need stages 1 and 2 of a 5 stage vetting done. Perhaps stupidly we never had him vetted when we bought him for various reasons, but he passed a vetting a few months before we bought him. Never had a horse vetted before, what does this involve? I'm actually really nervous about it, what if he fails??

What kind of cost is a vetting?

Thanks guys, silly questions I know

Really for the horse to be eligable for the criteria of having proof of a vetting for the insurance you really should of got your own vetting done when you brought it. Vettings are like MOT's they only guarrentee for that day. So within the few months from his eleged first Vetting to you buying it he could have alsorts wrong with him. If he fails you wont be able to insure him for the faults he fails on like sore back, ligament or tendon injury or respiritory illness like COPD. To change the height on the passport you need a vet to confirm the correct height, but there really is nothing stopping you getting a second passpost and I'd get the vet to do it when he does the vetting. A 5 stage vetting costs anything from £90 - £200 depending on if your insurers are insisting on bloods.

I haven't just bought the horse, I've had him 9 months with no problems, and knew him for some months before buying him from a friend, so I know that there have been no problems in this time. I'm aware that the vetting needs to be within 30 days of taking out the insurance, which is why I need one done. Thanks for an idea of the cost, I was expecting it to be much more!
