Today I rode my horse for the first time in a few months.
I haven't been able to ride due to health issues and was recently diagnosed with MS and Fibromyalgia.
He was perfect! Flopped straight on the bit and went round like a little show pony despite not being schooled in months (my sharer only hacks) and a couple of wobbles from me.
He was angelic to tack up and has just generally been a real superstar over the last few months. He never minds if I fall over or have to hold on to him for support, he happily walks round like a snail when I lead him.
For those of you that know me, yes, this is Merlin we're talking about.
Before I brought him just over 18 months ago, his previous owner was told he was dangerous on the ground and advised to put him to sleep, he ended up going through at least 3 sales rings and 6 homes in as many weeks.
When he came to us he was the most bolshy, food and water agressive horse I have ever met (it turns out he was starved and abused as a foal), he was also terribly insecure.
It turns out my difficult, rude horse is actually an angel in disguise. (Although his halo occassionally slips)
I cannot explain how much I love my horse
