I had an interesting walk out with charlie and my daughter today. We were happily walking up the lanes,I was aware that there was a lot of big tractors about as they are planting/ploughing etc so walked up one lane I didn't think they would be going up :p well I was wrong!
On way back a massive sprayer type tractor thing came round the corner and was approaching us ,now its a single track lane but we were on a grass verge and charlie is normally pretty good if I little wide eyed lol
My daughter jumped off and I stood next to him to keep him calm as the monster passed and like I said he's normally pretty good but doesn't like them particularly if its something high up.
Well he went berserk! :p pulled away from me and dragged me into the hedge into a pile of brambles! :D I didn't let go though, and the monster trundled by without stopping.
So now got a lovely scratched up leg and arm which is still pretty sore and stinging!
Scared daughter to death! I heard her calling me but I was more intent on keeping hold of the terrified ponio!
Just thought I'd share :)

Ooops!

Many years ago, I was riding a 17hh+ CB called Tiny at a RS through a wood with several others, jumping tree-trunks, along the way. Tiny decided to go a different way from the rest and shot off along a footpath between the trees. I was swept off by low branches and landed in a bramble bush, with a few nettles growing through it.
RI said 'Oh he likes to do that, don't worry, he did it to me the other day!'

Glad to hear you are all alright, and hope the stinging scratches heal up soon. But have to admit I got a lovely Thelwell vision of you being upended through the hedge by naughty pony, whilst daughter looked on, thinking Mum will cope, she always does.
Our evil scary monster this morning was a milk tanker.

Hehe thank u limestonelil that made me smile :) thanks guys so glad I kept hold of him tho AND especially glad daughter dismounted! I couldn't get up very well lol had to get a jumper on the brambles so I could get some purchase to stand up :D god knows what the tractor driver thought! :p

Pleased that no real damage has been done. Next time, take control of the situation. Stand in the middle of the road and make the big scary tractor stop. You can then introduce the scary monster to the pony and subsequent "meetings" will be calm.

Well done for keeping hold xx

Thanks ellenjay yes I thought afterwards that we should have stayed in the middle of road and walked forward as we were with daughter off as there was a crossroads another 50 yards away or so :p and we could have got way out of the way. I'm going to avoid the lanes just while they are planting as they are contractors and are roaring up+down the lanes with no thought 4 anybody :/
