Morning all
I just wanted to share my wonderfully happy mood with you all because tbh, it's been so long since I've had something to be happy about as far as horses are concerned!
I've been taking lessons to get my confidence back having been out of the saddle for a few years. My old horse was a total loon and despite getting on as best we could, ever since selling her I've barely ridden and recently I've been scared that my 4yo was going to be the same when I rode her.
I took her for a short walk and trot Friday after work and Saturday morning, before taking her yesterday on a 9 mile fun ride. It was the best FUN ever! All the fears have totally faded away, I have the most wonderful, gentle, sensible mare who takes her time and doesn't get worked up. Shes goes when I ask her to go and stops when I ask her to stop (even when my friends were cantering on ahead - that would've resulted in bucking and head throwing with my old mare). She is a true star and has done wonders for my confidence in the short space of an afternoon
All I want to do right now is shout from the rooftops how much I love my horse
Thanks for letting me get that off my chest - I've been sat in work all morning grinning like a cheshire cat and nobody knows why!
