A haylage question!

I’m just looking into Haylage options ready for the winter for my two horses. This will be my first full winter on DIY and I am keen to research my options and to find the most cost effective way to buy Haylage. I considered small bales but think we would get through them too quickly, I am now considering getting a big bale and opening it all up to stop it going off and using that. Ideally medium bales would be best but I realise not many farmers make these! What do you all do and how much does it cost you roughly per month/week?

I make my own 4ft bales. I open up one end with a flap and pull out what i need then cover it up again. A bale lasts my two 7-10 days living out and it doesn't go off. I pay £12.50 for each bale to be made but around here they are about £30 to buy.

I use big round haylage bales December to march, one round lasts my 2 ten days AdLib, never goes off, I take all wrap off so it doesn't sweat and before I had barn to put it in I used to cover it loosely with tarp and a rope, my supplier delivers one or two at a time so I would get him to place it on a pallet. Cost is £25 per bale
