I've noticed no matter how much work I do on my horse, he doesn't sweat.

Does he have Anhydrosis?

He has a lovely coat, in good condition , doesn't pant much after excercise.

Any suggestions what I can give him?

I noticed some people give their horses Guiness.

If he has a good coat and doesn't pant the I wouldn't think he has anhidrosis.

Anhidrosis is also known as 'drycoat syndrome' or 'non-sweating disease'. In its early stages it's known as 'puff disease' because horses pant heavily, even after work ceases. Horses will have very little, patchy or no sweat, elevated pulse, and a higher than normal body temperature when worked. After exercise recovery is slow. The horse may also have flakey dandruff and coat loss. The horse may appear distressed or lethargic during periods of hot humid weather.

If he isn't distressed then I would leave him be, he may just be very fit!

Mine never really sweats either except for under his girth even after a full on 45 dressage lesson in 80 degrees whereas I look like I've just stepped out of a shower!! He didn't sweat doing a sponsored ride or doing a hunter trial course. Not even in winter where he has a slightly longer coat - I don't get him clipped because he doesn't get sweaty.

Perhaps you are doing all the work and not him? I know mine is very into energy conservation.

I've only seen him really sweat once due to exercise and that was when a dressage instructor got on him and really worked him. The only other time is when he has had sedation.

If he has no other symptoms then I wouldn't worry.

He is probrably just fit, although mine was decidedly unfit this time last year and has never sweated during his schooling. Just enjoy!
