v pretty 9yr welsh sec a dapple grey gelding, good breeding, previously done pc, hacks alone or with othrs, good lead rein pony, good to do good in traffic, wormed up to date.
He is due to be loaned out but i may want to sell him at a later date.
thanks

What has he done at Pony Club? Camp, rallies, teams? Is he well-behaved at rallies, does he hot up when trotted and cantered in company? Can he be ridden by a small child off the lead as well as on? Is he the sort that a youngish child can tack up and groom on their own? Is he nice enough to show, either as an M&M, first ridden or lead rein pony? Is he unflappable enough to do handy pony and calm enough to do mounted games? Does he jump at all? Does he work in a natural outline, or does he run around with his head in the air? Has he any health problems - sweet itch, laminitis etc? Does he ever rear, buck, drop a shoulder, nap or run off? Is he good to box/trailer?

The answers to all those questions will make a big difference to his value!

The people i got him off dont know anything about horses, they had him a year and there kids used to ride him, they said that the previous people who had him took him to PC and used to do jumping etc with him. Thats all they told me.
\my kids have rode him off the lead rein but only out hacking with other ponies, hes happy to stay at the back and watch them go, hes pretty quiet but not kick along plod type. TBH i have never seen him being ridden before properly.
All i know is that hes good in traffic, he does get a bit spooked by bags and flappy stuff. He is good with kids and will stand to be groomed and tacked up, never known him to rear/buck etc but then i have never seen him ridden properly.
Never had lami or SI as far as i know. He is a little over weight at mo and unfit.
I was going to ask £500 for him, thats comparing with prices of other sec a s on horsemart - most are going from £500 to £2000!!

Just sold two both for £1750 and had loads of phonecalls on both ponies as the child decided to give up, there is a large market for good safe ponies.

So do you think if i said £600 ono i wouldnt sound greedy?

Nope. If pony is as good as you say it is, I would say that's very cheap, perhaps too cheap. I presume that's without tack?

If as you describe, I would ask £1k and still a bargin at that. That way it gives you room to haggle on price a little.

Good ponies really are worth their weight in gold, and selling them is very easy, they sell themselves.

wow i never realised there was such a demand for these types of ponies!
Hmmm i may mention it to the loaner tonight, see how she gets on with him then see if she wants him on a loan-with-view-to-buy, i waas tempted to ask her to make me an offer?
