Right, I'm centemplating keeping Missy for a bit longer, do some BSJA on her, up her price and try selling her again in a few months time but I have no idea if it will be worth it so if you coud humour me and give me a rough valuation that would be great

By the time I come to sell her I'm hoping she will be something like this -

16.3hh, 8yo, ISH mare by Lord of the Dance IV. Reg'd PB ID. Competing unaff dressage, BSJA / BN (and has most of, but hopfully all of her DC's) and is doing small hunter trails (and possibly some working hunter stuff as well). Schooling at novice level on the flat and schooling well over fences, loves her jumping, really easy to ride around a course. Bags of scope, fantastic attitude towards work, 'no' desn't seem to be in her vocabuary! All she wants to do is please you. Fantastic paces, naturally very athletic. Fantastic to handle on the ground, you can do anything with her! Good to shoe/box/clip/dentist/traffic/hacks alone or in company etc.

Isn't 100% being ridden with others (she dosn' like horses trotting or cantering towards her but she didn't put a foot wrong in the quiet warm up yesterday, she was totally fine). She does have a blemish to her off hind which doesn't look great but it in no way affects her but it seems to put people off despite that fact (so I'm quite tempted to get that scanned so I can show people that theres nothing wrong with it).

Opinions?

That sound like a fab plan if you have the time. I'm so surprised you haven't sold her yet, she looks so good.

Good luck with BSJA

Very nice, I would look at her if I was looking. I'm sure a bit more experience would help and maybe worth around £8k if she gets all her DCs in BN.

She looks huge in your photos - how big is she?

wat kinda blemish has she got? but surprised she hasnt sold looks really nice

do you tell people bout belmish before they come to see her

sounds like a good plan to me

Disagree with above, £8k is rather rich for BN DCs. It really does depend on how she does (sorry) - if she goes out and gets 4 x DCs first time of asking then she is going to be worth more than if she goes out and it takes 12 x to get DCs! Also you will prob start doing Disco once she has got a couple of BN DCs, and if she has DCs in that then the price goes up - hard one! She is also 8yo, so that DOES come into effect.

I would say don't be greedy, ask £6500 and I think you will get it quickly.

i would also say 8k is steep for a BN horse - ( id love to be proven wrong though as i have 2 at that level!)

she is nice - the blemish i would want scans of as im reluctant about things like that!

i think with some DC behind her possibly 6k as she is 8 and just starting.
Also - i may be wrong but on reading the ad it sounds like she has that dreaded word "potential" to do dressage etc but as she isnt doing it yet you cant really price her on it!

its really difficult - im selling one at the minute and it is so difficult to get what you want and what they are worth in todays market.

I think 8k is definitely too steep.

It does depend on how she does really, so its hard to judge before shes done it. Personally I think your best bet would be like Weezy says, to try and get her some DCs Discovery as well - if I was looking for a SJer I don't know how impressed I would be by an 8yr old doing BN but if it had some good results Disc too I'd be more interested.

If she'd done that, I'd price her around £6500 I think.

I'd say about 5k. A lot lower than the others I know but BN for an 8yr old isnt any great selling point and the blemish will take her down a notch.

She looks and sounds lovely

Blimey - I agree £8k is a bit steep but when I was looking for this type last year there was nothing around for less than this other than unsound horses.

If I could find one similar for £5k I would have snapped their hand off. Having said that the market has changed a lot and there is quite a few advertised now at £6500 so on reflection I think the above comments are probably more accurate.

The blemish wouldn't have worried me too much but it might my vet at the vettings, so pre-arranged scans etc would be very appealing.
