I sent Oberon some photos of Ruby's hooves, I got loads of useful info, links and advice :D

I swapped Ruby's Happy Hoof for Fast Fibre and Micronised Linseed. She is looking so well, lovely shine to her coat and the Linseed is making a big difference to her stifle problem too (no longer clicks!)

Have noticed a change in her behaviour out hacking too. She isn't as nappy and hardly ever spooks.

But the biggest change has been her hooves! There is a hack around here (very very lovely) that includes a stony path. Ruby has always been very footy on it and falls behind the other Horses. For this reason I have been putting off going up there, which is a shame because it leads to another 2 or 3 hacks. That is untill Sunday, she has been on Fast Fibre for about a month now, so wanted to see how Ruby went. Well the difference was incredible! she wasn't footy in the slightest and was happily marching on ahead of the others.

So a huge huge thank you to Oberon, for all your help :D xx

What a lovely post LaurenBay

Im another one who owes massive thanks to Oberon. She gave me some amazing help and advise.

Thankyou Oberon! xxxxxx

She is amazing, she always chips in and helps when asked for advice. I just cant believe it when people are rude to her- I really hate it, but she just carries on regardless , helping yet again.

I must not be very observant! haven't noticed anyone being rude to her. Though can't imagine why anyone would as like you said she is so helpful.

Aw I'm honoured by your posts :o

Thank you so much :).

I am someone who has made pretty much every dietary mistake over the years :o.

But I found I needed to educate myself and get my **** together when Obi started getting older and sick.....so all I'm doing is passing on what I've learned from much better and cleverer people than myself.

I'm really pleased if any my waffle has helped.

Just wanted to join in the Oberon appreciation!

I don't think I've had direct help/advice from you but I read as many of your posts as I can and learnt a lot, so thank you :)

I agree. Oberon definitely deserves a big thank you. Lots of lovely advise dished out in an utterly non judgemental fashion. What a wonderful addition to the crazy world that is HHO

:D

Yep she is fab, was pooling around on here the other day to notice I had two pms !!! There was me thinking who had I peed off..... It was Oberon with lots of fab info to help me with fatties diet to look at bare foot.

Aww thats lovely to read! H&H really needs a like button for posts!
Do you think that just by changing to fast fibre and micronised linseed has made him go better over stony ground or from other advice you got?
Really interested, been trimming my own horses for years & just learning more about the mechanics and dietry, but my horses can still be a bit footy.
I've got the book by Nic Barker, feet first, which is great, the dvd set from Pete Ramey & god knows how many barefoot books, but im wondering if im still missing something and thats why my horses are still footy over stones.

Is it sharp loose gravel, I find this is the worse. Also the field is so wet this summer, the feet are saturated, and he does better if stabled overnight, even just the night before the hack
Have you actually counted how many grams of magnesium he is getting day by day, I think 6gms for light work, and 8gms for medium is the standard, according to american research.

Another huge thank you. You helped save the life of my hopping lame, shod pony. I had even booked the knacker man.
Changed diet, shoes off,
Shes barefoot, sound, placed ODE, dressage and jumping, hacks 10 miles. Never even been foot sore.
MANY MANY THANKS

That is great news about all the ponies doing so well. Just as a matter of interest, OP, how much linseed do you feed every day (and size of horse?)

Shes 14.2hh and gets a mug split between 2 feeds. I believe it is the feed, now I've removed the mollases and sugar from her diet its really helped :)

I'd like to add my thanks too. My feet/diet related knowledge has been given such a huge learning curve thanks to her posts.
I am putting it into practice, too! :)

Can I add my thanks too, just started trying the bare foot thing and having a few problems but Oberon has given me somewhere to start with his diet and suppliments. Seeing all of you with improved horses has given me faith that my cob will be unshod and sound!

Adding my appreciation to the thanks for Oberon.

She is really helping me expand my knowledge before taking mine barefoot.

Always replies with helpful information about both mechanics and diet.

Much appreciated, thank you!

I'm going to jump on the bandwagon and add my thanks, she sent me some very interesting and useful diet information when my mare had her shoes off unexpectedly.

Another bandwagon jumper, well done to whoever started this thread, she's a complete treasure.

Me too, Oberon couldn't have been more helpful when I deceided to take off my pony's shoes (against vet and farrier advice) and I was worried about finding a trimmer to help me. She spent alot of one weekend fixing me up for which I couldn't be more grateful.

I don't post very often but find alot of the advice given to others invaluable. Pony is now doing brilliantly and both of us are so happy. THANK YOU. :D:D:D
