Just wanted to let everyone know how grateful I am to the kind and polite drivers out there.

I took my youngster out hacking and in order to get to the cycle track, I have to go by road. A huge lorry came up and kindly turned his engine off. My horse was a bit freaked out but I was just about winning and convincing him to have a look, when another car tries to get round the lorry. He realises what the hold up is and gets out of the car.

At this point I was worried that I was going to get shouted at or something, but he kindly asks if I would like him to walk my horse past! I said I was alright and he walked past 2 seconds later, but I was so grateful for the kindness of this stranger!

Anyway, just a big thanks to all those non horsey people out there who drive quietly past us, have patience when our horses get spooked, and generally don't go off on one!

What a lovely man!

There are some really decent road users out there, I was out hacking the other day when a lorry came torward us on a narrow lane, usually my Horse is ok, but a mini choose that moment to speed up behind us rev and boom out music, It was all too much for my Horse who then planted, the lorry driver saw and turned his engine off, he then wound his window down (I thought he was going to yell at me) and said "I'm going to turn the engine back on, will it spook your Horse? then I will reverse so you have more room" I was very grateful and gave him a big smile, a wave and a huge thank you as I rode past. I ignored the mini driver though.

Don't know how to quote multiple posts, but LaurenBay: I do find a lot of lorry drivers in my area to be very patient towards the horses out hacking. :) Must be a trend!

Just glad that even though there are some idiot drivers out there, there seem to be just as many, if not more, kind drivers! :D

What a nice driver. :D
I don't ride on the roads (I live in the new forest :D ) But I was riding down a track the other week and Herbs was being a tit  The bin men came round the corner and Herbie desided they were the scaryest thing he had ever seen. I stopped and let him have a look before I got off to lead him passed ( I was bareback and thought it was safer to get off) Just before I dismounted one of the bin men got out the cab and walked twords Herbs. The poor man got herbies back feet in his face :o Herbie doesn't like men. Luckly the man was very nice and said he was going to lead Herbie passed. I said thankyou but explained Herbie didn't lke men (although he had made that point very well himself :o  ) I jumped off and led Herbs passed.
I saw the bin men again the next week. They stopped the truck and waited for me to ride by. noone offered to get out and lead him passed though ;) :p
