One of the brood mares isn't looking 'right'. Owner been worried about her, she is stiff behind, but that is not unusual as she suffered what sounds like a horrid accident as a youngster. But she is 'wet nappy walk' stiff, so worse than normal. I've tried to re-assure owner saying the cold weather effects the joints more.
BUT, the mare is also oozing sticky sweaty fluid from her bum cheeks!! I'm not kidding. Her vulva and tail are dry and clean, but the oozy mess is sort of coming from where the fillet string is attached to her rug, and running down the back of her legs. Most odd.

Anyway, due to this, owner wanted me to 'double check' the field for any possible aborted feotus'. Sad job. I was hoping I didn't find anything, and luckily I didn't. All sorts of imagines run through your head, how big, sex, colour, markings, whether it has been semi eaten by fox etc...
The vet is coming later, mare has eaten up well, but in the meantime can anyone shed any light on this 'sticky stuff'? She is due to foal early April.

If you haven't already, post this in breeding, they're very clued up.
 
sounds a little like how my mare looked. Vet diagnosed pyometra shortly after. Not a broodie though so probably a more likely explanation
 
I had an x puppy farm bitch that nearly died from that !! , how do they deal with that in the horse ? ! Can you give a horse a hysterectomy ?? I have to admit I did wonder with the symptoms explained ..... I hope the mare is ok
