Just read the post on Cortaflex etc., and it got me thinking.

I have a five year old DW, a six year old Traditional cob, and a twelve year old Welsh cross. The DW has a pelvis issue and is just coming back into work (or will be on Friday!); daughter wants to ODE the cob so the work level is being upped to increase fitness etc.; and the Welshie cross is bascially kept fit by hacking, but does nothing else.

I've started them all on Glucosamine with the aim of helping their joints, but is this the right one? Should they be on something like Cortaflex instead? Bearing in mind, there is nothing wrong with their joints (that I know of, other than the DW's pelvis, which is a different issue).

Thankies

In my opinion, and this is just my opinion it's better to have an all-round joint supplement with glucosamine, chondroitine and MSM so they can complement each other.
I'm not a fan of Cortaflex, but won't argue that scientifically...
If there is nothing seriously wrong and as a preventative or 'help along' measure I would use NAF Superflex or maybe Equistro Chondril (if you can get hold of it at all)

Weeeell, I'm not sure, it might not be fair on the others, but, on the other hand, you admitted to not knowing and didn't try and blag it, so, Yes, you may have a flake. Enjoy.

Weeelll, seeing as I'm banned from horse meal... could I have a flake instead?

[/ QUOTE ]

If it'll keep you away from you ned's dindins, then yes
grin.gif
. In fact, as you answered and we're having to feed you something other than ned food, have some extra marshmallows as well

I haven't really had to add joint problems to my list of ailments to manage but would agree that MSM is very good - its more for tendons and ligaments (soft tissues) than glocosamine which is better for cartilage - so it would make sense to find a combination of the two for optimum joint health. I know NAF do a MSM supplement.

Please can I have a choccy flake and marshmallows??!!

Aye Slinkyu, 'tis hoping that if I feed them stuff that is meant to help, then it'll be something I don't have to add to m'list

Given that the Dizz had secondary damage to her SLs, then I think 'tis a grand idea to have something that combines the bits for bones and cartilage and tendons and ligaments and Uncle Tom Cobbly an' all

Yes, you may have flakie and marshies, but only 'cos you gave such a good answer
