how long do you wait before calling the vet out?

i discovered my boy was lame yesterday. he's fine in walk but visibly lame in trot.
there's heat in his right fore around the middle of the tendon. there's no swelling or puffiness.

I hosed his leg and bandaged overnight and his leg is still warm (obviously I waited for a while after the bandage came off).

I spoke to my lovely vet and she said to give him a few more days of cold hosing.

how long do you normally wait?

I have to say I usually give anything minor a few days to see if it progresses, obviously if its gushing blood or the horse is severely lame then I call the vet straight away but for something like that i'd probably have carried on cold treatment and done exactly as you have and given the vet a call to see what they say.
