A lesson to anyone who over breeds.

Well deserved! Would like to see the RSPCA take responsibility for not taking action sooner though, they are not doing there job properly at all. How many other cases are out there like this one that they are aware off but we arnt :(

While there are obviously bad breeders out there, maybe it's more appropriate to say, don't flipping keep 17 horses in appalling conditions. And life can change in an instant so do something then and there. Sell or find appropriate homes as giveaways. Or for cripe sake, send them to the factory in good condition. I'd have more respect for the person that does that then let's them starve. I really don't care what his circumstances were. At some point you know you can't feed them even basics such as hay or provide grazing at the very least. Bad circumstances happen to many people. Getting the animals out has to be one of the first priorities. Burying your head in the sand helps no one.

I remember this case from last year. I hate to say it, but there are quite a number of Shires (and other breeds, no doubt) kept in similar circumstances. I think it's one of the reasons I hate winter. It's the realisation that while me and mine are safe, sound, fed, warm, dry, there are untold hundreds suffering in the elements without food, water, care. And it's going to keep on happening, winter, after winter.
