Thought i better write something as Ginn has told everyone that we did well
So yesterday was mine and Archie's 'debut' at Burrows Court, and our Elementary 'debut'.
We arrived at Burrows (2 1/2hrs later) and found a space to park - just - the carpark is TINY
However the venue and arenas were lovely so it made up for the small carpark, oh and the cake was fab too
So got on the monster in the carpark and he calmly wandered over to the warmup (he normally has to be led by mum at 'new' venues as he can nap). So theres me thinking we are off to a good start!! Warmed up nicely, only one little paddy when someone shot up behind us and scared him - poor guy!
So he did a stonking first test (if i do say so myself) definately the best test hes ever done, and we got 70% and came 3rd in the Open and 3rd overall so he won his first bit of money - £11
(That was for N21 btw).
Then we had 30mins til my elementary. So took him back to the lorry for a chill out, then got back on 10mins before my test. Well he started off fine in the warmup and then it just went from bad to worse and he started bronking and rearing all over the place for no reason and was getting himself so worked up
The sheet in the office said i was in Arena 2 (i was first to go in the elementary) and Arena 2 had another test going on in it
So i took him out of the warmup, then someone said they were waiting for me in Arena 1
Then monster features decided rearing in the carpark was far more entertaining than going to Arena 1
Poor mum grabbed hold of him and dragged us over to Arena 1 (they had the wrong arena written on the board). I apologised to the judge for being late, then mum went to let Archie go and he complety flipped out, kicked out behind and caught my mum
Then bronked across the test arena like a horse possessed
Luckily my mum was ok, and i stayed on - just.......
Anyways the judge was very nice and let me trot him around until he had settled. He did a decent test - nowhere near perfect - broke in the 2nd medium trot, tried to rear twice, once in my first halt and in my 6second halt (but i was ready for him!!). I was still pleased tho, as we finished the test - all be it i thought it was pretty crap, but there we go!!
So went to get my score and we got 62.40% which i was very pleased about considering it was our first one and all the awful mistakes we made
Then went back later to look and we were lying 1st in the restricted and 2nd overall!! However there was still about 10 people to go. Went to look at the end and we only bl00dy won the restricted section and came 2nd overall!!!!!!
So my little naughty horse won his first elementary, and won another £15 - so that was £26 for the day! I was so pleased with him. I couldnt care less that i didnt get the qualifying mark as we've got ages to qualify and i wasnt even expecting to get placed, let alone win!
It was a long drive home, and we eventually got back to the yard at 8 last night.....
Our next outing is the Sparsholt Dressage Festival where hes doing his first 2day competition and first over night stay - which could be interesting!!
Hope i havent bored you all too much - pictures to follow when Ginn sends me the disc
oh, and big thanks to Ginn and KandM for coming along to support me - i think Ginn is my lucky charm
And it was great to finally meet Kick_On aswell.
