As it is so quite here at the moment I will do a little report on our first outing.
Background I got L as an unbroken 3yo in Nov 2014. I backed her myself and am generally besotted. I don't have my own transport and she was quite weak as a 4yo so didn't do much last year. Also she is very nervous of other horses, no idea why hasn't had a bad experience with me. Not nasty, just nervous and panics. I moved to a new yard in November and it is great. They were going out to BS at Duckhurst on Sunday and there was a space on the lorry so we thought why not.
Plan was to see how she was and do the clear round, but wasn't sure if we would brave the warm-up at all.
Arrived and tacked up on the lorry very relaxed. Stood like a rock while I got on and then wandered over to the schools. She was so chilled and the warm-up was quiet so went in and had a walk and trot. Didn't want to canter with the other horses so I didn't push it.
Went in the ring and trotted to a little cross and we were off, she was taking me to the fences and looking for the next (or at the camera!). She couldn't have been better, though was a bit disappointed in my riding in general. Ended up popping the BN course, though we did miss out the combination. Can't wait to get out again and hopefully do clear round and BN. Love this little horse, was lovely to see her ears forward in every picture too.
Untacked and then stood on the lorry asleep. Had a little jig when she was left on her own, but it was only while we were swapping others about. Role on the rest of the year. I am so excited about her and don't think I have ever seen a youngster so relaxed at their first show. Definitely surprised me.
